Wolfgang Katzheimer
Wolfgang Katzheimer the Elder (* around 1450 ; † 1508 ) was a German painter and graphic artist who was in the service of the bishops of Bamberg .
The first Bamberg city portrait is attributed to Katzheimer . The farewell to the apostles , probably created for the apostle altar in Bamberg's Martinskirche and today in the Bamberg Historical Museum , shows the apostles saying goodbye against the backdrop of the city of Bamberg. The Altenburg , the Upper Parish , the Bamberg Cathedral and the Michelsberg Monastery can be seen in the background .
