Wolfgang L. Zagler

Wolfgang L. Zagler (born January 29, 1951 in Vienna ) is an Austrian researcher and engineer in the field of technology transfer and recipient of the Wilhelm Exner Medal .

Life & work

Zagler studied electrical engineering at the Vienna University of Technology . Since 1986 he has been in charge of Fortec Electronics , where technical aids are developed for disabled people as well as for old and frail people. In 2006 he accompanied the founding of Treventus Mechatronics . Zagler came up with the product idea for the ScanRobot , a fully automatic scanner for books, which was awarded the EU Information and Communication Technologies Prize at Cebit in 2007 in Hanover .

Zagler also created a reading device for the blind, various types of Braille displays , printing systems and translation software for Braille, as well as the modular communication system Autonom .
