Wolfgang Langhoff (* 1960 in Oberhausen ) is a German manager and CEO of BP Europa SE . He has been with the global oil and energy company since 1989 . Langhoff also heads the Mineral Oil Industry Association as chairman of the board .

Life

education

Langhoff was born in Oberhausen in 1960. After graduating from the Theodor-Heuss-Gymnasium in Dinslaken , he studied civil engineering at the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen , where he graduated in 1984 as a graduate engineer . He also holds an international degree as a chartered engineer.

After completing his studies , Langhoff took up a position at the German industrial group Thyssen . In 1991 he moved to the British oil company BP , where he initially took on tasks in engineering and business development. From 1996 he held various management positions at the locations in Frankfurt am Main, Brussels, Hamburg, Madrid and Krakow as well as at the corporate headquarters in London. In 2010 Langhoff came to Bochum as Head of Supply & Logistics for several European countries.

In 2009/2010, BP merged its operating companies in five European countries under the umbrella of BP Europa SE in the legal form of a Societas Europaea (SE) based in Hamburg. As part of the reorganization of the Executive Board , Langhoff was appointed to the committee. In 2013 he initially took over the finance department there. From the beginning of 2016 he was also responsible for the portfolio strategy. In this position he was responsible in particular for the dissolution of the Ruhr Oel joint venture between BP and Rosneft.

At the turn of the year 2016/2017, Langhoff finally moved to the top of the Board of Management of BP Europa SE. The company found itself in a challenging market environment. Langhoff continued the core business with fuels and lubricants and initiated investments in the fundamental modernization of the refinery and the city ​​port in Gelsenkirchen . In addition, petrochemical products remained an important business area under his leadership. Langhoff intervened several times in the public debate about the future of the diesel engine and called for different drive technologies to be treated equally. It looks like green hydrogen as an important step in a CO 2 poorer in the future.

Others

In addition to his position at BP, Langhoff is also active in various associations and organizations. Since 2011 he has been chairman of the advisory board of the Petroleum Storage Association (EBV). In 2016 the German Mineral Oil Industry Association (MWV) elected him chairman of the board. Langhoff is also a member of the executive committees of the Federal Association of German Industry (BDI) and the Association of the Chemical Industry (VCI).
