Wolfgang Madjera (born June 29, 1868 in Vienna ; † December 17, 1926 there ) was an Austrian poet and writer.

Life

Wolfgang Madjera was the son of the painter Karl Madjera . As a lawyer he was a Viennese magistrate, most recently since 1919 senior magistrate. After the First World War he was President of the Vienna Regional Group of the German-Austrian Writers' Cooperative.

His grave is at the Vienna Central Cemetery (group 30E, row 3, number 19). There is a memorial plaque for him on his former home at Anastasius-Grün-Gasse 25 in Vienna- Währing , where he lived from 1902 until his death. The Madjeragasse in Vienna- Hietzing was named in 1936 after him.

Madjera emerged at the turn of the century with poems, plays and fairy tales. He also wrote essays in a patriotic spirit and published for Der Liebe Augustin , among others .
