Wolfgang Menke

Wolfgang Menke (* 1949 in Schwemlingen ) is a German sports doctor and university professor .

Life

Menke was 1966 in Merzig , the High School until 1974, he studied in Homburg and Berlin medicine. In 1975 he completed his doctoral thesis in Homburg. From 1980 to 1985 Menke worked as a senior physician in orthopedics at the Mainz University Clinic , between 1986 and 1994 he headed the orthopedic department of the Marienkrankenhaus Trier and worked as a resident orthopedist.

In 1995 Menke, whose focus is on teaching and research in the areas of sports injuries and damage as well as epidemiology , took up a professorship at the Institute for Sports Orthopedics at the German Sports University in Cologne , which he held until 2002. He then headed the “Saarschleife” health and rehabilitation center in Mettlach-Orscholz , before taking over orthopedic management in the center for outpatient rehabilitation in Trier in spring 2014.

In 1997 he published the book “Basic Knowledge of Sports Orthopedics, Sports Traumatology” and in 2000 the work “Special Sports Orthopedics and Sports Traumatology”. Also in 2000 his reference work “Compendium of Sports Injuries” came out. He contributed several chapters to the "Textbook of Sports Medicine" published by Richard Rost .
