Wolfgang Michlmayr

Wolfgang Michlmayr (born May 30, 1938 in Bitburg , Germany ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) of German origin.

Life

Wolfgang Michlmayr came to Austria with his parents from Germany as a child, where he studied at the federal teacher training institute in Linz after attending compulsory schools . In 1958 he passed his Matura and enrolled in 1959 at the University of Innsbruck , where he studied humanities until 1964 . After receiving his doctorate in 1964, he worked as a teacher in Bavaria for three years from 1965 to 1968 before he found a teaching position at an AHS in Upper Austria in 1969 . For reasons unknown, Michlmayr gave up his job as a teacher in the mid-1970s and became an employee of VOEST-Alpine AG, where he became department head in 1977.

As early as the mid-1960s, Michlmayr belonged to the district executive of his party, the SPÖ, for the Rohrbach district . In 1976 he was elected chairman of the district party, a position he held until 1991. From 1979, held Michlmayr his first elective office as he prepares for the Social Democrats in the council of Rohrbach in Upper Austria was chosen. In the same year, in October 1979, he was sworn in as a member of the Federal Council in Vienna ; he remained Federal Councilor until December 1983.

A year later, in 1984, he moved for the SPÖ as a member of the Upper Austrian state parliament , to which he was to belong until 1991.

In 1996 he also resigned his council mandate in Rohrbach and retired into private life.
