Wolfgang Mittendorfer (born November 24, 1972 in Munich , Germany ) is a German composer and film composer .

Life

Born into a family of architects, painters, pianists, composers, professors and writers, Wolfgang Mittendorfer grew up surrounded by music. Early encouragement to study instruments led to the learning of piano , violin , flute, cello , among other things , the latter estimated up to the age of 20, according to his own statements, “until it became too boring as a result of the realization that it was just one of many instruments, and you I couldn't play them all anyway ... at least not at the same time ” .

When he turned to composition, he discovered that at the time he was unable to receive adequate lessons in the field of film music in Germany. His training was therefore self-taught by intensive study of international, especially American film composers such as Jerry Goldsmith , John Williams , Danny Elfman , Bernard Herrmann and the like. The most important textbooks of his studies included On The Track by Fred Karlin , Sounds And Scores by Henry Mancini and The Study Of Orchestration by Samuel Adler . In an interview he also cited John Corigliano , his student Elliot Goldenthal , and a number of classical composers such as Richard Wagner , Richard Strauss and Igor Stravinsky as major influences.

Wolfgang Mittendorfer has composed mainly for US and Canadian independent films.
