Wolfgang Niemeier

Wolfgang Niemeier (born April 21, 1949 ) is a German geodesist and university professor for geodesy and photogrammetry at the TU Braunschweig .

Life

Between 1967 and 1972, Niemeier studied surveying at the TU Braunschweig (preliminary diploma) and the University of Bonn (diploma). He then worked as a research assistant until 1988, later as a university assistant at the “Geodetic Institute” at the University of Hanover , where he obtained his doctorate in May 1978 . From 1982 he worked as a research associate at the University of Calgary in Canada. In 1987 he obtained his habilitation in the field of "land surveying and engineering" again at the University of Hanover. Until 1991 he worked as a university professor at the "Geodetic Institute" in Hanover, until he accepted a professorship at the "Institute for Geodesy and Photogrammetry" (until 1995: "Institute for Surveying") at the TU Braunschweig , where he has been active since then. In this function he was on 8/9. March 2012 in Braunschweig one of the organizers of the 2011 conference series "GeoMonitoring", which took place in the " House of Science " at the TU Braunschweig.

His main area of ​​work is the adjustment calculation , about which he wrote a well-known textbook .

Niemeier lives in Braunschweig.
