Wolfgang Nikolaus Pertl

Wolfgang Nikolaus Pertl (born December 6, 1667 in St. Gilgen ; † March 7, 1724 ibid) was a Salzburg lawyer and the grandfather of Wolfgang Amadé Mozart .

Life

Pertl was born as the son of Johannes Pertl (1607–1698) and Magdalena Zacher († 1681) in St. Gilgen. After attending high school Pertl studied in Salzburg Jus . During this time he appeared several times as a singer as a soloist, after 1691 as an instrumental bassist at the year-end events on the school stage of the Benedictine University . He also acted as a singer and singing teacher in the Archbishopric of St. Peter .

After completing his studies, he first worked in Vienna until he entered the archbishopric in 1706 at the office of rentier.

In 1712 he married the widow Eva Rosa Rosina Barbara Euphrosina Puxbaum (1681–1755), née Altmann. The marriage had three children:

1716 Pertl care court administrator at the District Court of St. Gilgen. He initially resided at Hüttenstein Castle , but then moved into an apartment in the newly built office building on Ischler Strasse in St. Gilgen ( Mozarthaus St. Gilgen ).

After his death, his wife and daughters lived in poor conditions in Salzburg; he left behind not inconsiderable debts.
