Wolfgang Pfeiler (born May 6, 1931 in Erfurt ; † June 24, 2011 ) was a German political scientist .

Life

Wolfgang Pfeiler grew up in the GDR . After graduating from high school and the subsequent skilled worker examination, he studied at the TH Dresden . After moving to the West, he studied political science , communication research and history at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn . He was a research assistant in industry and a research assistant at the research institute of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung . He was also a member of the district committee of the CDU Rhineland.

Pfeiler completed his habilitation with Hans-Adolf Jacobsen and was appointed adjunct professor at the University of Bonn, later professor of political science at the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt University of Greifswald . Most recently, Pfeiler was Professor of Political Science at the Institute for Political Science at the University of Koblenz-Landau .

He was a member of the board of trustees of the supporting organizations of social services.
