Wolfgang Rahn

Wolfgang Rahn (born February 3, 1953 in Rostock ; † November 2, 2009 ) was a football player in the top division of the GDR , the league . He played there for FC Hansa Rostock .

Athletic career

Rahn played for Hansa Rostock in the junior league until 1970. On November 26, 1969, he played his first of 14 international matches with the GDR junior national team. In the home game against the Netherlands (0-0) he was used in the right midfield. Rahn made his debut in the men's division as a junior in the second team of FC Hansa in the second-class GDR league . On the 21st match day of the 1969/70 season, on March 29, 1970, he was also used as a right midfielder in the match between FC Hansa Rostock II - FC Vorwärts Berlin II (4: 2). For the 1970/71 season he was officially nominated for the squad of the 2nd team, but played only eight point games with her in the GDR league. In this season he also came to his first assignment in the GDR Oberliga. On the last day of the league game , June 16, 1971, he came for the unfit Klaus-Dieter Seehaus in the game Stahl Riesa - Hansa Rostock (1-0) as a left midfielder in the first team. Then the club nominated Rahn for the 1971/72 season for the league team. Rahn took his chance and won a regular place in the midfield of the Hanseatic League from the 5th game day. At the end of the season he had completed 21 league games. By the end of the 1975 season, Rahn was a fixture in the Rostock midfield.

The end of the season also meant relegation to the GDR league for FC Hansa. For a year, Rahn was forced to play in the second division. The league season lasted 22 game days, of which Rahn played 20 and was Hansa's top scorer with 16 goals. The team was sovereign relay winner and was facing the promotion games to the league when the following note appeared in the Rostock daily Ostsee-Zeitung on April 26, 1976 : “The player of FC Hansa Rostock Wolfgang Rahn was due to violating the norms of behavior and discipline in competitive sports excluded from the club with effect from April 20, 1976. “Nothing was disclosed about the nature of the violations. Since Rahn never played for FC Hansa again, the following results were recorded for the first team after the 1975/76 season: 90 league games (4 goals), 20 GDR league games (16 goals) and 12 GDR cup games (6 goals).

During the 1978/79 season, Rahn appeared again as a player at the GDR league club TSG Bau Rostock . Here he stayed until the end of the 1979/80 season, after which he moved to BSG Stahl Brandenburg , which also played in the GDR league. Rahn stayed in Brandenburg for three years, then at the age of 30 he went to the GDR league club Chemie Premnitz as a player- coach , with whom he was relegated to the district league after a year . This was followed in 1985 for two years at BSG Landbau Neustadt in the Potsdam district league and further coaching positions with lower-class teams in the Brandenburg area. Rahn was registered as coach of FC Blau-Weiß Wusterhausen in the 2nd district class Ostprignitz / Ruppin for the 2009/10 season.
