Wolfgang Reinhardt (athlete, 1943)

Wolfgang Reinhardt (born May 6, 1943 in Göppingen ; † June 11, 2011 in Munich ) was a German athlete who won the silver medal in the pole vault (5.05 m) at the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo . He started at these Olympic Games for the Federal Republic within a joint German team. For this success he was awarded the silver bay leaf on December 11, 1964.

Wolfgang Reinhardt initially belonged to the Göppingen gymnastics club . His first trainer was Jörg Bernlöhr , who taught him the basics of the new fiberglass jumping technique. From 1961 he started for Bayer 04 Leverkusen , where he trained with Bert Sumser . In his playing days he was 1.78 m tall and weighed 68 kg. He learned the profession of chemographer and from 1961 studied sport at the Sport University in Cologne.
