Wolfgang Schön

Wolfgang Schön (born July 24, 1961 in Bonn ) is a German law scholar and university professor.

Life

After graduating from high school, Wolfgang Schön studied law and economics at the University of Bonn as a scholarship holder from the German National Academic Foundation in 1979 . In 1984 he passed his first state examination in law. He then worked as a research assistant at Brigitte Knobbe-Keuk's chair in Bonn , under whose supervision Schön was promoted to Dr. jur. PhD. After the subsequent legal clerkship and the second state examination in 1988 in Düsseldorf, he returned to the Bonn Institute for Tax Law as a scientific assistant to Knobbe-Keuk. In 1992 he completed his habilitation there and received the venia legendi for the subjects of civil law, commercial and corporate law and tax law.

Following this, Schön held a full professorship at Bielefeld University . In 1996 he moved to the University of Bonn, where he held the chair for civil law, commercial and corporate law and tax law and was head of the Institute for Tax Law. In 2002 he accepted a call from the Max Planck Society at the Max Planck Institute for Tax Law and Public Finance in Munich, of which he has been a scientific member and director since then. From 2008 to 2014 he was Vice President of the Max Planck Society. Since July 2014 he has been Vice President of the German Research Foundation . In addition, Schön has been an honorary professor at the University of Munich since 2002 . 2009 awarded him the Catholic University of Leuven , the honorary doctorate . On November 26, 2016, Wolfgang Schön was elected a member ( matriculation number 7719 ) of the Leopoldina .
