Brigitte Knobbe-Keuk

Brigitte Knobbe-Keuk (born September 18, 1940 in Berlin ; † April 23, 1995 in Bonn ) was a German law scholar and university professor .

Life

She grew up in Berlin and Wuppertal as the daughter of a pastor who was a member of the Confessing Church during World War II . In Wuppertal she attended the humanistic Wilhelm-Dörpfeld-Gymnasium and then studied law at the universities of Bonn and Munich . In 1965 she was awarded a doctorate in Bonn with her dissertation “The will of the testator post testamentum and the interpretation of the will”. jur. PhD. The encounter with Werner Flume shaped her further career, from 1966 to 1970 she was Flume's research assistant.

Knobbe-Keuk completed her habilitation in Bonn in 1970, became an adjunct professor in 1971 and a scientific adviser in 1972 . She held a professorship at the University of Göttingen for four years , and in 1979 she succeeded Flume as professor for civil law, commercial, economic and tax law at the University of Bonn.

In addition to her teaching activities, she was an expert witness and litigator (including at the European Court of Justice ). She was a member of the advisory board of the German Tax Law Society , worked for the German Lawyers Association and was active in the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation .

Brigitte Knobbe-Keuk died in 1995 after a serious illness.
