Wolfgang Sprekels

Wolfgang Sprekels (born July 17, 1944 in Mölln ) is a German dentist . He was almost 20 years Vice President of the German Dental Association and 28 years as president of the Dental Association Hamburg.

Life

On the occasion of his 60th birthday, the Hamburg Senate awarded him the honorary title of "Professor" for his services in providing care for children and young people and for the well-being of his patients.

In January 2011, Sprekels, the longest serving president of a dental association in Germany, was re-confirmed as president of the Hamburg dental association. On January 13, 2012, Sprekels celebrated his 25th anniversary as President of the Hamburg Chamber of Dentists. Sprekels has been working as a salaried dentist in Poppenbüttel since 2013. In November 2014, Sprekels did not run for election to the Hamburg Chamber of Dentists. On January 20, 2015, the dentist Konstantin von Laffert was chosen as his successor. On November 25th, the LAJH general assembly elected the Hamburg dentist Konstantin von Laffert as chairman of the LAJH.

At the Council of European Dentists (CED), formerly Dentist Liaison Committee (DLC), he was responsible for European policy and was Vice-President until November 2010.

He was chairman of the state working group for the promotion of youth dental care eV (LAJH), an institution to improve dental health in Hamburg kindergartens and schools, in which u. a the statutory health insurance carriers are members. On October 29, 2014, Sprekels was retired as chairman of the LAJH after 28 years.

Hamburg's Senator for Health, Cornelia Prüfer-Storcks, presented Prof. Sprekels with the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class on June 20, 2016 .

Sprekels is married to the dentist Veronika Sprekels, who worked with him in a joint practice in Hamburg for decades. His daughter works as an orthodontist.
