Wolfgang Steiger (born August 30, 1964 in Urberach ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

After completing secondary school, Steiger completed an apprenticeship as a banker at Commerzbank . In 1982, Steiger joined the CDU. From 1993 to 1999 he was CDU chairman in his home town of Rödermark and from 2000 to 2009 chairman in the Offenbach district. Steiger was a member of the German Bundestag from October 1994 to October 1998 and - after Wilhelm Dietzel's resignation - from April 1999 to October 2002 . At his own request, he left in 2002 and started as an entrepreneur self .

For ten years - from 1999 to 2009 - Steiger worked as honorary chairman of the Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe in the city and the district of Offenbach. He was also a member of the general assembly of the Offenbach Chamber of Commerce and Industry from 2006 to 2008. Steiger's extensive voluntary work also includes his commitment from 2001 to July 2009 as the leading head of the “ Frankfurt Financial Center Future Forum ”.

From November 2004 to June 2009, Steiger was honorary state chairman of the State Association of Hesse on the Economic Council of the CDU . Here he was appointed Federal Managing Director in July 2009 and shortly thereafter took over the position of Secretary General based in Berlin. The Economic Council is a nationwide organized association supported by entrepreneurs and represents around 12,000 members.

In November 2011, Steiger received the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon from the Federal President for his special commitment in the areas of politics, business and social affairs.

On October 1st, 2014 he received the Hessian Order of Merit.
