Wolfgang Voigt (* 1951 in Bad Schandau ) is a German physical chemist .

Life

Voigt graduated from EOS in 1969 with a high school diploma and a combined vocational training as a chemical laboratory assistant . In the same year he began studying process chemistry at the “Carl Schorlemmer” Technical University in Leuna-Merseburg . He completed this course in 1976 as a research course with a doctorate on the subject of "Determination of diffusion potentials in molten alkali metal bromide - alkaline earth metal bromide mixtures for determining electrical transport parameters" with Hans-Heinz Emons .

1978/79 followed a research stay at the Mendeleev Institute in Moscow with Torocheschnikow, 1983 to 1985 and 1986/87 a stay at the University of Oslo near Grjotheim. After completing his doctorate, Voigt followed his doctoral supervisor to the Bergakademie Freiberg , where he submitted his doctorate B in 1986 on the subject of “Structure and properties of salt-water systems in the solution-melt transition area”. With this he obtained the title “Dr. scientiarum ”, which today corresponds to a habilitation . From 1987 to 1989 Voigt was a university lecturer and then professor for physical chemistry in Freiberg . Since 1993 he has held the professorship for inorganic chemistry at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg and from 2010 to 2013 the post of dean of the faculty for chemistry and physics.

In 2016 he retired.

Work areas

Salt chemistry topics that Wolfgang Voigt works on

Voigt works on a wide variety of salt chemistry problems in his working group. In addition to basic research on solubility in the multicomponent system salt-water or on crystallization kinetics, he deals with application-related problems such as final storage in salt mines, lithium extraction from salt lakes and ores, the building material chemistry of gypsum and MgO concrete, and research into heat storage materials .
