Wolfgang Vulpius

Wolfgang Vulpius (born November 27, 1897 in Weimar ; died July 4, 1978 there ) was a German literary scholar and writer .

Vulpius was the great-great-grandson of the writer and librarian Christian August Vulpius . Through Christiane Vulpius even Goethe was an ancestor by marriage. His father was the doctor Walther Vulpius (1860–1944). Wolfgang Vulpius was initially a teacher in Hildburghausen after completing his studies . After returning to Weimar in 1945 as a soldier from the Second World War, he became an employee of the National Research and Memorial Centers for Classical German Literature in Weimar. He made significant contributions to teaching classical Weimar humanism. The Foundation for National Research and Memorial Centers for Classical German Literature (now the Weimar Classic Foundation ) dedicated a commemorative publication to him on the occasion of his 60th birthday in 1957.
