Wolfgang Weber (Manager)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wolfgang Weber (* 1935 in Heilbronn ) is a German manager .

Professional activities

Wolfgang Weber was Chairman of the Board of Management from 1972 to 1992 and then until January 1993 Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Südmilch AG in Stuttgart , at that time the largest German dairy group. When Südmilch AG was founded on June 29, 1972, Wolfgang Weber was proposed for election by the supervisory board members at the time, under the leadership of the then chairman of the supervisory board and co-founder of Südmilch AG, Friedrich Wilhelm Schnitzler , as chairman of the dairy group and elected to the top of the Südmilch AG group . At that time, Südmilch AG had an annual turnover of DM 13 billion. In 1990, Sachsenmilch AG was founded under the leadership of Südmilch AG , the management functions of which were largely occupied by people from the Südmilch board of directors. Wolfgang Weber was also elected chairman of the board there. Following a failed know-how sale of Sachsenmilch AG by Weber, Südmilch AG lost 38 million DM. Weber succeeded in this case of fraud with the help of an employee of Deutsche Bank , who presented falsified balance sheets to the supervisory board of Südmilch AG and Sachsenmilch AG. In this way Weber concealed his financial fraud until he fled to Paraguay in 1993 .

Arrest warrant and conviction

Wolfgang Weber fled to Paraguay in 1993 because tax and financial fraud are not prosecuted in Paraguay. Weber ran cattle farms in Paraguay. Weber was therefore wanted by arrest warrant, but Paraguay did not extradite Weber to the Federal Republic of Germany , as Weber created jobs for local farmers by setting up cattle rearing farms. Weber still wanted to go back to Germany and negotiated through the German embassy with the German public prosecutor's office about a smaller sentence. In 2003 the arrest warrant against Weber was suspended by a security deposit of 100,000 euros. Weber was sentenced to two years' imprisonment, which was suspended.
