Wolfgang Weber (musician)
Wolfgang Weber (born December 22, 1939 in Stettin ) is a German cellist .
Life
From 1958 to 1961 Weber studied the cello with E. Neumann at the Liszt School of Music Weimar . In private he took lessons from August Eichhorn and Karl Grosch . From 1961 to 1965 he worked with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra . In 1965 he became principal cellist at the Leipzig Radio Symphony Orchestra . In 1970 he became a member of the Neue Musik Hanns Eisler group and in 1971 of the Aulos Trio. From 1974 he was a lecturer at the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" University of Music in Leipzig and the Liszt University of Music Weimar. The Leipzig Music Academy appointed him professor in 1987 . He was a juror at the Markneukirchen International Instrumental Competition . Concert tours have taken him through Europe and America. With the Eisler Group he received several prizes a. a. the GDR Art Prize (1980).
