Wolfram Faust (born March 10, 1964 in Wuppertal ) is a former German canoeist . Today he works as an organizer of dragon boat events .

In the 1980s, Faust was one of the most successful West German athletes in the canoeing disciplines of canoe racing and was then also successful in dragon boat sports . He started canoe racing for the Canoe Sports Association Wuppertal until 1990 and briefly switched to SC Neubrandenburg in 1991 . His hometown club was the club for canoeing in Wuppertal , where he was looked after by Hans-Martin Röse .

In dragon boat sport, he initially competed for the drag attack team he co-founded , and later for the Kurpfalz-Dragons from Mannheim . In 1996 he founded an event agency and looks after dragon boat events all over Europe.

Canoe racing

At the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles , he finished 6th in the two-man canoe with Ralf Wienand over 500 m and 4th over 1000 m. At the Canoe Racing World Championships in Montreal in 1986 , he and his brother Hartmut took 3rd place over 1000 m. Together, the brothers took part in the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, where they finished 5th over 1000 m. Neither of them reach the final over 500 m.

After Hartmut had announced the end of his career, Faust qualified in 1989 together with his club mate Thomas Faulstich for the world championships in Plovdiv . After the German Canoe Association refused to nominate his exercise bike Hans-Martin Röse as a supervisor, as was customary until then, Faust canceled his participation in the World Cup. In 1990, however, after the return of his brother Hartmut, he was able to qualify together with him for the World Championships in Poznan , where they finished ninth over 1000 m.

Wolfram Faust was 26 × German champion in canoe racing, among other things, he took first place in the eighth canoe with the KSG Wuppertal team from 1987 to 1991 .

Dragon boat

In 1991 Faust ended his career in canoe racing and, together with Ulrich Eicke, was one of the main initiators of the founding of the dragon boat department in VfK Wuppertal (later the drag attack team ) and soon became successful in dragon boat sport. In total, he was five times dragon boat world champion.

In 1996 he founded an event agency and since then has been taking care of dragon boat events all over Europe and equipping international European and world championships with boats and complete accessories.
