history

In the course of the German settlement in the east in the 12./13. The village of Königstädt, which was laid out in the 17th century, fell desolate at the end of the Middle Ages; In 1525 it is documented as a desert field mark. In 1574 the Kruger and four farmers from Diersberg cultivated a few places on the Feldmark, or eleven farmers and a Kossate each one meadow. Half of the place or the field mark belonged to the house of the Counts of Lindow-Ruppin. In 1525 it passed to the Alt Ruppin office . A quarter of the field mark belonged to von der Gröben auf Meseberg, who sold their part to the Alt Ruppin office in 1580. A quarter of the field mark belonged to the von Zernikow family, who sold their share in 1712 to the Alt Ruppin office. Until 1723 the Heiliggeist-Hospital had the delivery of two Hufen from the village and the field marrow; In 1723 this share also fell to the Alt Ruppin office. In 1580 the Feldmark (Holt, Acker and Wiesen) had 195 square rods in 2094 acres. In 1598 von Zernikow had built a house with three containers on his part of the Feldmark. This house was destroyed in the Thirty Years' War and the Feldmark was reforested. In 1700 four Swiss families were assigned to the Feldmark, which established the modern village. On June 1, 1951, the village of Königstädt was renamed Wolfsruh.

The townscape is shaped by the village church, which was built from 1929. Between 1936 and 1939 the Luftwaffe of the German Wehrmacht built an ammunition plant, the Königstädt air ammunition plant .

On September 27, 1998 the communities Großwoltersdorf, Wolfsruh and Zernikow merged to form the new community Großwoltersdorf.
