history

Großwoltersdorf

Around 1490, Großwoltersdorf belonged to the Ruppin rulership of the Counts of Lindow-Ruppin, which was essentially imperial .

Zernikow

Zernikow was first mentioned in a document in 1362. Around 1490 Zernikow was part of the Ruppin rule, which was essentially imperial, under the rule of the Counts of Lindow-Ruppin . In the middle of the 17th century, the von Zernikow family of knights was in debt. After various other owners, Crown Prince Friedrich acquired the Zernikow estate in 1737 and gave it to his chamberlain Michael Gabriel Fredersdorff (1708–58) in 1740. He expanded the estate, with the manor house being built in 1746 according to plans from Knobelsdorff's construction office. In 1747 a mulberry plantation was laid out, in 1751, along with other avenues, the mulberry avenue (now a listed building).

In 1750 Fredersdorff married the banker heiress Caroline Maria Elisabeth Daum (1730-1810). After Fredersdorff's death († 1758) she married Johann Freiherr von Labes (1731–1776) in 1760. Their children were Amalie Karoline von Labes (1761–1781) and Hans von Labes (1763–1831), the later builder of Schlitz Castle . Amalie Karoline von Labes married Joachim Erdmann Freiherr von Arnim (1741–1804) in 1777 ; their children were Carl Otto called Pit von Arnim (1779–1861) and the later romantic poet Ludwig Achim (1781–1831) married to Bettina von Arnim (born  April 4, 1785 in Frankfurt am Main ; †  January 20, 1859 in Berlin ).

The last gentleman on Zernikow was Friedmund Freiherr von Arnim (1898–1946) with his wife Clara von Arnim , born in 1945 . von Hagens (1909-2009).

Changes in municipal area

On July 1, 1950, the municipality of Buchholz was reclassified together with the other places in Fürstenberger Werder from the Mecklenburg district of Neustrelitz to the state of Brandenburg . While the rest of these communities came directly to the Templin district , Buchholz belonged to the Ruppin district for two months and was then also incorporated into the Templin district. With the administrative reform of 1952 , the communities Altglobsow, Buchholz, Burow, Großwoltersdorf, Wolfsruh and Zernikow came to the Gransee district in the Potsdam district .

Since 1957, there have been three changes to the municipality in what is now the municipality of Großwoltersdorf . In two cases it was about incorporation , in the third case about the establishment of a new community .
