The wool park is a large housing estate in prefabricated construction in the northeast of the city of Delmenhorst . The 4- to 15-storey blocks of flats were built between 1969 and 1976 during the heyday of social housing under the leadership of the housing association Neue Heimat with originally 1388 residential units (including 120 senior citizens' dormitory spaces) on 20.8 hectares. The quarter was funded by the Socially Integrative City program.

The infrastructure in the wool park is limited: there is a primary school and a neighborhood center run by the Diakonie . One bathing establishment, the Kurbad in Westfalenstrasse, was closed in June 2011.

The once coveted place of residence deteriorated from the 1990s and developed into a social hotspot . Hygiene problems arise due to the wild garbage disposal, the acquisition of parts of the settlement by real estate speculators promoted this development. Numerous immigrants from eastern states of the European Union , many of them Roma , currently live in the settlement in the wool park . Many apartments are overcrowded with partially unregistered people.

The complex at Am Wollepark 1 to 5 - uninhabited since 2010 - was acquired in 2015 together with the parking garage south of it as part of a foreclosure auction and will be demolished from April 2017. The city has secured a right of first refusal for the Am Wollepark 13 and 14 block with the aim of demolishing it. The no longer inhabited block Westfalenstrasse 8 is also to be demolished. 500 apartments are to be "dismantled" in this way. In the block at Am Wollepark 11 and 12, the gas and water supply was permanently shut down in May 2017 due to payment arrears on the part of the property management. The remaining blocks are earmarked for redevelopment.
