The Blunck wool spinning mill was founded by Joachim Christian Blunck in Bad Segeberg in 1852 and has been in operation ever since.

history

The wool spinning mill is located in houses from around 1800 and still works with machines, devices and principles from the 19th century. The company is still family-owned. The property and facilities have now become a museum and are under monument protection.

The Göpel , which was originally operated to generate energy from horses, was initially replaced by a steam engine , which in turn was replaced by electric motors that drive the still existing transmission system .

The delivered wool is degreased in a washing plant and , after drying, a fine wool pile is produced using a carding machine . On an about 20-meter self-actor are installed on the spindles 320, the wool is to yarn spun and according to the need, mainly for hand weaving and Handstrickerei , twisted and dyed .

In 2008 the building and the machines were completely restored. The State Office for the Preservation of Monuments, the Association “Monument Fund” and the Segeberg welfare center contributed to the costs. The Blunck Wool Spinning Association supports the maintenance of the operational wool spinning mill.
