The Wolsfeld AvD hill climb is a motorsport competition for automobiles in the municipality of Wolsfeld in the southern Eifel . It is the last hill climb in Rhineland-Palatinate.

venue

The race will be on the side road from the outskirts Wolsfeld the hamlet Wolsfelderberg organized. The route measures 1640 meters with a width of around five meters; the gradient is 9 percent. It is the shortest mountain race track in Germany and enables drivers with less powerful engines to score points with their skills.

history

The founding of the organizing association goes back to US car fans from the Bitburg Airbase , who carried out illegal races around 1953. A year later, the Bitburg Sports Car Club was founded, which was renamed the Eifel Motor Sport Club in 1955 . The association applied to the local authorities to block the Wolsfeld – Wolsfelderberg route for private races before the first official hill climb could take place in neighboring Irrel in 1956 . Since 1958, the event has always taken place at the current location on Whit Monday .

Organizer, approved vehicles and rating

According to the organizer, the race will be assessed according to the FIA ​​/ DMSB rating regulations, the cup announcements, the ADAC, AvD, DMV and ADMV regulations for:

  • DMSB Mountain Team Challenge
  • Luxembourg mountain championship
  • KW Mountain Cup
  • Classic mountain cup
  • NSU mountain cup

Accordingly, cars in these classes are eligible for participation. The race has been run by the Eifel Motor Sport Club since 1958 .

Course records

The racing car record of 1: 00.090 minutes was set in 2004 by the German Herbert Stenger with a BMW. The Swiss Ronnie Bratschie has held the touring car record in the Mitsubishi Evo 8 EGMO with 1: 01.550 minutes since 2019 .
