Wood Island is a subway station of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) in the Boston borough of East Boston in the state of Massachusetts in the United States . It provides access to the line Blue Line .

history

The station was opened on January 5, 1952 and named after the Wood Island Park recreational area, which still existed at that time , on the former site of which parts of the Logan International Airport are now located. The station was rebuilt in the mid-1990s and renovated in August 2008.
