Orient Heights is a subway station owned by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) in the Boston borough of East Boston in the state of Massachusetts in the United States . It provides access to the line Blue Line .
history
The Boston, Revere Beach and Lynn Railroad had an Orient Heights station on their route as early as 1875 , but operations were discontinued in 1940 and the Metropolitan Transit Authority took over the tracks and associated structures as the legal predecessor of the MBTA.
The current station was opened on January 5, 1952 together with the Wood Island and Airport stations as part of the northern extension of the East Boston Tunnel . Until the opening of the following station Suffolk Downs on April 21, 1952, Orient Heights was the terminus of the Blue Line .
Due to the increasing deterioration of the building, a comprehensive renovation project with a budget of 51 million US dollars was started in 2012 for the building, the duration of which was planned for two years and a completely new building.

There is a connection to three MBTA bus lines at the station. There are also 434 chargeable parking spaces available. In the immediate vicinity are the eponymous district of Orient Heights and the Orient Heights Yard, the main Blue Line depot . Employees employed there can enter the factory premises directly in the station using appropriate access controls.
