Wookieepedia - The Star Wars Wiki is an English-language wiki website for setting up a comprehensive Star Wars database based on the MediaWiki software. The wiki was founded on March 4, 2005 by Chad Barbry and hosted on the servers of the Wiki farm Wikia . Wookieepedia is a suitcase word and combines the two terms Wookiee , a species from the Star Wars universe, and encyclopedia , the English word for encyclopedia.
scifi.com declared the site the site of the week in November 2007.
The German equivalent of this Wiki is Jedipedia, named after the Jedi Knights. It currently comprises 47,402 articles (as of July 7, 2020).

Actors of the newer "Star Wars" films have used the Wookieepedia to get a better understanding of the "Star Wars" universe and to better portray their characters. Among other things, Felicity Jones has prepared for her role as Jyn Erso in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story or Alden Ehrenreich for his role as young Han Solo in Solo: A Star Wars Story .
