history

Founded in 1997 in Scottsdale , Arizona in response to the unprecedented growth and adoption of Six Sigma.

While general quality management organizations were widespread during this period, there was a noticeable need for an organization that deals with the specific issues of Six Sigma practice.

In the first few years, the ISSSP fine-tuned its offerings for a community of complementary participants that today represents more than 12,000 professional members. The focus of this early period was on information gathering and communication, which would develop the ISSSP's ongoing mission and value proposition.

The website has been around since spring 2000; This event was followed by the company's first full-time position and the appointment of an Executive Director . In June the ISSSP Affiliate Program , following the charter affiliate organization of the Breakthrough Management Group (BMG), which is currently the primary affiliate sponsor of the ISSSP, was launched publicly. Today more than 36 companies are part of the ISSSP Affiliate Status Program .

In autumn 2000 the ISSSP carried out the first special Six Sigma program. These monthly programs from now on deal with topics such as the ISSSP Q&A, MiniTab Advanced Features, Six Sigma Versus Lean , Process Mapping and Simulation . The early programs laid the foundation for a unique and dynamic community forum for which the ISSSP later became more and more famous.

In the spring of 2001, the first regional ISSSP symposium took place in San Francisco and Atlanta, which focused on Six Sigma user development. In the autumn of the same year, the ISSSP officially became an independent organization under the leadership of Roxanne O'Brasky as President, which was accompanied by the hiring of additional full-time employees.

In 2002 the ISSSP introduced its newly developed membership program in response to the constantly growing range of services and the drive for continuous growth. In response to the rapid adoption of Six Sigma in medical technology , the organization released its corporate sponsorship program in February , followed by an improved symposium format and supported by corporate sponsors . In May, a management team with a fully functional employee structure was established, which from now on supports the organization in its growing importance and in its social offers.

The society is thus prepared to further expand its importance - while safeguarding its own mission to continue creating value for its members.
