McKesson Corporation is a US company headquartered in San Francisco , California .

The Fortune Global 500 company is the world's largest in healthcare by revenue and the fifth largest in the United States (according to Fortune 500 2016)

McKesson was founded in New York City in 1833 under the name Olcott & McKesson by Charles Olcott and John McKesson. Daniel Robbins became another co-partner and after Olcott's death in 1853 the company became McKesson & Robbins .

In addition to its locations in North America, McKesson also has international locations in Australia and Europe (France, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom). Because of the highly regulated market, which is driven by interest groups, McKesson showed no interest in a branch in Germany for a long time. In the first quarter of 2014, however, McKesson took over 75 percent of the shares in the German pharmaceutical retailer Celesio , which was then renamed McKesson Europe in September 2017 .

McKesson has in the United Kingdom its headquarters in Warwick and employs in the UK around 500 people.
