World Badminton Grand Prix 1983 (final)
The final of the 1983 World Badminton Grand Prix took place from December 14th to 18th in Istora Senayan , Jakarta . It was the final competition of the Grand Prix series of the past season and the first ever World Badminton Grand Prix. The prize money was $ 70,000. At the first three events of the WBGP from 1983 to 1985, in contrast to the later tournaments, only the men's and women's singles were held. From 1987 the three double disciplines men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed were added.
In this first edition, Luan Jin and Li Lingwei from China won.
