The publishing house Wostok ( Russian East ) is a German publishing house based in Berlin . The publisher has nothing in common with the former Jewish book publisher and book distributor Wostock (1919–1927).
history
The publishing house was founded in Cologne-Lindenthal in 1955 under the name of the Soviet Union today . The publishing house has been called Wostok since 1992 and has been based in Berlin since 2002.
The editor in charge is Peter Franke. Britta Wollenweber is also a permanent member of the editorial team.
The authors / employees include the Slavist Mareile Ahrndt , the long-time chairman of the West-Ost-Gesellschaft in Baden-Württemberg Jörg Bohse, the journalist and translator Juri Durkot , the translator Valentina Dwinskaja, the editor-in-chief Jelena Gurskaja and the journalist, editor and publicist Vladimir M. Ostrogorski .

Magazines
The press department of the embassy of the USSR in what was then the federal capital Bonn published the magazine Soviet Union today at Vostok from 1956 to 1991 . The press office of the USSR in Austria also published a magazine under the same name . The publication was discontinued shortly before the official dissolution of the Soviet Union.
The publisher has been publishing the quarterly magazine Vostok since 1992 . It is a socio-political and cultural-political magazine about Russia and the successor states of the USSR. The editorial office has been in Berlin since 2002, before that the magazine was published in Cologne.
Since 2007, the German-Russian language magazine Po Swetu has also been published quarterly by Wostok .
