history

"Po swetu" was founded in March 1948 in East Berlin . Initially the school magazine was called "По свету" [Ежемесячная газета для немецких школьников] , from number 7-8 / 1949 it was published in "По свету" (newspaper for Russian language classes). renamed. Since January 1975 it was called "По свету" (magazine for foreign language teaching ). In 1978 the student editorial board was formed at the main editorial office; the 12 best German students on the student council came from towns in the GDR . More than 160 young people have participated so far.

In the beginning it was a 4-page black and white newspaper in the newspaper format 30 × 45 cm. From October 1962 each edition contained three language parts: "Po swetu" in Russian, "Around the world" in English and "Á travers le monde" in French. In 1965 the layout changed and it was switched to the A5 format. The number of pages increased to 12, of which since 1963 4 pages were intended for English and French lessons. From 1975 the format was reduced to 20 × 28 cm, the number of pages increased to 16, six of which were reserved for English and French. From 1991 the magazine appears in color. English and French were discontinued, but texts in Polish and Czech were published up to the year 2000. “Po Swetu” is sold by subscription.

The magazine has been published since 1999, is mainly in Russian and (especially in "МостТы") the result of a project by young people living in Germany who come from the states of the former Soviet Union . The target group is primarily the Russian-speaking youth. The topics range from Russian pop music and youth culture to politics to the history and everyday life of Russian emigrants in Germany. The magazine wants to enable young people to report on their lives in Germany and promotes the building of bridges between resettlers and locals, the old and new homeland, between generations and between the young people themselves Non-native speakers made it easier.
