description

The sports high school is a school for summer sports . These include athletics , gymnastics , cycling , swimming , water polo , soccer , basketball , boxing , weight lifting, and wrestling . In addition there are speed skating , ice hockey and figure skating .

Since it is an elite school, athletes who have the potential for international success can receive a stretching / stretching in grades 7/8, 9, 10 as well as in course levels 11/12. This means that one school year will be taught in two years, or two school years in three years. This gives the students more time to deal with training and the associated competitions. It can be stretched a maximum of once in lower secondary level and once in secondary level II.

Mgl 1: Grades 7 and 8 can be extended to three years.
Mgl 2: Class 9 can be extended to two years.
Mgl 3: Class 10 can be extended to two years.
Mgl 4: The upper secondary level can be extended by one year. The students then have grades 11, 12 and 13 instead of 11 and 12

The extension courses are now widely accepted, especially in upper secondary level. Due to the great demand, at least two different courses are offered in the extension of the upper secondary level. This gives the students the opportunity to pay more attention to their own interests by choosing individual courses.

building

By moving to the renovated sports high school in the 2004/05 school year, the conditions for the students could be improved. The distances to the competition and training facilities are now very short for many sports. The result is a modern school building with good technical equipment.

In addition, a new three-field hall was built directly at the sports high school and inaugurated in 2009. In the Dreifelderhalle building there is a cafeteria where food is freshly prepared.

Boarding school

The students who live further away from Chemnitz have the opportunity to use the boarding school, which is located in the immediate vicinity of the grammar school and offers accommodation in rooms for two people each. It is equipped with showers, TV rooms, a communal kitchen and a table tennis table.
