Jörg Stingl
Jörg Stingl (born July 6, 1961 in Karl-Marx-Stadt ) is a Saxon mountaineer .
Stingl was the second German, after Hans Engl , to climb Mount Everest on October 14, 1978 and May 22, 2001 without additional oxygen. He is the first and so far (2008) only German to climb the Seven Summits without additional oxygen.
During his school days at the children's and youth sports school in Karl-Marx-Stadt (today Chemnitz sports school ) he was a swimmer . His greatest success as a swimmer is participation in the 1980 Olympic Games .
Stingl is involved as a voluntary ambassador for the Children's Hospice Foundation for Central Germany in Nordhausen in Tambach-Dietharz.
