A high school with in-depth training is in Saxony of gifted education at the school . The prerequisite for attending one of the 24 Saxon grammar schools with in-depth training is, on the one hand, the educational recommendation for the grammar school and, on the other hand, a successful admission process, which takes place in the school year before the change in written form, tailored to the specialization. In-depth training is available in the fields of mathematics and science (6), arts (5), linguistic or binational-bilingual (7) and sports (6) areas. Particularly gifted schoolchildren are to be spotted and supported through the GIFted project .

Mathematical and scientific

In the in- depth mathematical and scientific training , the focus is on a. on mathematical models , computer science classes and science experiments . Participation in Science Olympics is encouraged.

Musically

High school students with in- depth musical training receive special, optional singing , instrumental and music theory lessons . In Leipzig, intensive training is not necessarily linked to membership in the St. Thomas' Choir .

Linguistic / binational-bilingual

High school students with in- depth language training learn three foreign languages , one of which is the advanced language . The second foreign language is offered from the 5th grade and the third from the 8th grade. From the 7th and 9th grade, subjects in the advanced language are taught bilingually . Polish and Czech are held with students from their respective mother countries.

Sporty

The high schools with in- depth sports training are also elite schools for sports and have an Olympic base connection. The students receive individual basic and intensive training in individual sports. The focus is on the following:
