action
Emily and Leslie, two close friends, go on a road trip through the desert. But when they decide to leave the main highway to take a shortcut, they are soon left with a psychopath in a truck. And he makes fun of starting a deadly game of cat and mouse. On the run, the two girls burst a tire and try to change it. Before they can finish their work, the truck races towards their car again and they run across a field. Emily stumbles and bumps her head on a stone so that she passes out. When she comes to, all she finds is her friend Leslie's vest and there is no sign of the truck. She goes back to her car, the wheel of which seems to have been changed by the truck driver, and drives on. The truck continues to pursue them and so Emily continues her escape. When it is already night, she is stopped by a police patrol car. Then the truck races past again and runs over the policeman. While the truck is towing the police car, Emily takes the gun of the dead police officer and continues to flee with her car. At a gas station, she calls the police and wants to make a report. However, the truck suddenly races up and destroys the phone booth. Emily can save herself at the last second and continues her escape journey. At a hilltop, she decides to face the trucker and turns. She races towards the truck, which tears off the steering wheel and goes off the road. After his front wheels protrude over the cliff, he can no longer drive with the front-wheel drive. Emily approaches the vehicle and calls Leslie asking where she is. However, she only hears a laugh from the driver's cab, but cannot see anyone. Before she can open the door, she hears her cell phone ringing in the car. So she runs back to her car and notices there that the ringing is not coming from her cell phone. She goes to the source, the trunk and opens it. There she finds her dead friend Leslie. Now Emily decides to put an end to the cruel hustle and bustle of the truck driver and crashes the heavy vehicle, which is stuck on a cliff, with her red car into the depths. Then she continues her journey.
Finally, you see a young woman calling for help in a junkyard because her car is broken and asks if someone could help her. Then you can see the tow truck whose engine starts.
reception
The film service thinks Wrecker is an "exchangeable horror thriller off the peg, which unravels the clichés of the genre without ideas, but sometimes quite explicitly."
