Wu Bangguo

Wu Bangguo ( Chinese  吳邦國  /  吴邦国 , Pinyin Wú Bāngguó ; born July 12, 1941 in Feidong County in Anhui Province in China ) is a Chinese politician. From 2003 to 2013 he was chairman of the National People's Congress , the Parliament of the People's Republic of China . He was a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China from 2002 to November 2012 .

biography

Wu Bangguo was born in Feidong County, Anhui Province in 1941 . He joined the Chinese Communist Party in 1964 and graduated from Tsinghua University in radio and electronics as an engineer , which he graduated in 1967. From 1967 he worked as a worker, technician and office manager of the Shanghai No. 3 Factory for Electron Tubes. From 1978 he was a deputy manager of the Shanghai Electronics Industry Association.

Wu Bangguo spent most of his political career in Shanghai and is therefore considered a member of the Shanghai clique . In 1983 he became a member of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai City Party Committee, and in 1985 he became Deputy Party Secretary of Shanghai. In 1991 he became Shanghai Party Secretary. In 1999 he was from the State the responsibility for the reform of state-owned enterprises transferred. He also oversaw the construction of the Three Gorges Dam .

Wu Bangguo was the vice-premier under Zhu Rongji .
