Wuhuan

The Wuhuan ( Chinese  烏桓  /  乌桓 , Pinyin Wūhuán ) were a nomadic people who resided in northern China (today's provinces of Hebei , Liaoning , Shanxi , Beijing District and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region ).

They were active under the Eastern Han Dynasty and often represented warriors for the armed Han armies. In contrast to most of the barbaric peoples of China, the Wuhuan were loyal to the imperial court. However, in the case of the dynasty (190s), they turned to their enemies. Some Wuhuan tribes served the warlord Yuan Shao . She was defeated in 207 by Cao Cao on Mount Bolang. Many Wuhuan horsemen then joined him and became known as "the best cavalry under heaven". Although various leaders of the Wuhuan revolted against the Jin Dynasty in the 3rd century , they were gradually ousted by the Xianbei in the 4th century .
