Wulff-Dieter Heintz

Wulff-Dieter Heintz (born June 3, 1930 in Würzburg , † June 10, 2006 in Swarthmore , Pennsylvania ) was a German astronomer .

Life

Heintz received his doctorate in 1953 from the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and did research at the University Observatory in Mount Stromlo in Australia, of which he was director from 1972 until his retirement in 1998.

Heintz was a specialist in double stars .

In addition to astronomical writings, he also published literature on the game of chess .
