Root system of the spruce tree after hurricane Kyrill

The natural monument root spruce was about 35 m high spruce in the nature park Märkische Schweiz and a landmark of Buckow .

The approximately 180 year old tree was on 18./19. January 2007 fell by hurricane Kyrill . Its widely ramified root system, washed free by the water of the Sophienfließ stream , is still a spectacular sight.

During its lifetime, the spruce was a popular hiking destination for both locals and tourists, which is why attempts are being made to preserve the root cave and the lying trunk. The bizarre roots were and are a coveted photo motif.
