Root tar

Root tar is a light, brown wood tar . It is made by dry distillation of softwood. As a natural protection against rot, it is particularly suitable for the treatment and conservation of wood and natural fiber rope . Can be diluted with turpentine oil , linseed oil or petroleum . For faster drying may desiccant is added. With the addition of linseed oil and siccative, " refreshment " is obtained, which was and is used, among other things, to preserve ( smart and clover ) standing goods on ships, especially sailing ships.
