The Vyborg Rajon ( Russian Выборгский район ) is a district of Saint Petersburg .

It has 447,562 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010) and the postcode 194xxx.

The municipality consists of the following eight districts:

  • Levaschowo ( Левашово )
  • Pargolowo ( Парголово )
  • Sampsonovskoye ( Сампсониевское )
  • Svetlanovskoye ( Светлановское )
  • Sosnovskoye ( Сосновское )
  • the 15th district ( 15 муниципальный округ Санкт-Петербурга / 15 munizipalny okrug Sankt-Peterburga )
  • Parnas ( Парнас )
  • Shuwalowo-Oserki ( Шувалово-Озерки )

In 2007, 30,722 companies were located in the Rajon, employing around 140,000 people.

history

The Vyborg Rajon is the successor to the pre-revolutionary Vyborg side . Originally the entire part of Saint Petersburg to the right of the Neva was called this, as the road to Vyborg began here.

On January 28, 1952, the Vyborg Leningrad Raion was renamed Stalin Raion by a ukase from the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR . It was renamed on December 23, 1957.
