By since 1998 Un4seen Developments Software developed supported at the beginning only the XM - file format of Fast Tracker II , hence the name "XMPlay" comes.
In the meantime, XMPlay is able to handle other tracker file formats, such as the popular music formats MP3 , Ogg Vorbis , AAC , Opus , WAV , WMA , as well as more exotic ones using plug-ins provided on the website . In addition, the possibilities can the plug-ins of Winamp - Audio Player also be expanded.
XMPlay is a very powerful and lean software: the entire package is less than 360 KB.
The software also offers other functions typical of an audio player, for example receiving Internet radio , organizing music files in playlists or visualizing sounds using animations generated in real time.
The appearance of the software can be changed using skins.
Another notable feature of XMPlay is that it enables uninterrupted playback between files.
Engine
XMPlay s engine for processing audio files by developers as a separate program library under the name BASS or BassMod (only for Tracker files) or BASSASIO (for Steinberg's ASIO protocol provided). These libraries can also be used under non-Windows operating systems, for non-commercial use also free of charge (with the exception of BASSMOD , which never needs to be licensed). A plug-in based on BASSMOD is officially available for the Unix audio player X Multimedia System .
