XOL DOG ​​400 is a Berlin hardcore techno project by Christian Müller, which is often attributed to the Gabba or Terror styles .

Life

It was founded in 1990 from the previous EBM project "Le Nokto Vezyn". The first release under the name XOL DOG ​​400 took place in 1992. Compared to the otherwise short lifetimes of projects or bands in this music genre, XOL DOG ​​400 has been releasing CDs for more than 15 years and still plays live regularly at festivals and techno parties.

XOL DOG ​​400 is considered to be one of the pioneers of the laptop live gig. As early as 1992, XOL DOG ​​400 only used a laptop (made by Apple) with suitable software for live gigs, while other acts at the time performed with more or less complex parts of their studio equipment or at least with complete desktop PCs.

As a highlight in the career of XOL DOG 400 of appearance as the only German contribution to the 1998 true London by John Peel led Meltdown Festival at the Royal Festival Hall. XOL DOG ​​400 also recorded a John Peel session for the British BBC . A second John Peel session was in preparation in 2004, but it was no longer published due to the death of John Peel.

In addition to his own publications, of which various tracks have also been licensed for the scene's usual sampler series such as Terrordrome and Hardcore Membrane Terminator, XOL DOG ​​400 has worked as a remixer for numerous bands and projects (including genre-untypical ones such as the collaboration with the chanson singer Tanja Ries ) and has worked on film music participates and publishes music of other styles under different project names. His other pseudonyms include AntiZycle and Rapid Dog. He also performs as a DJ under the pseudonym XenonDirtFood. In 1997 he worked on the track Main Damage by Frenchman Laurent Hô (Ingler).

XOL DOG ​​400 is considered a co-founder of the Berlin Fuckparade .
