XY woman
An XY woman or XY girl is a woman or a girl who, despite an X and a Y chromosome - which are normally a man's sex chromosomes - due to special hormonal effects (a partial or complete testosterone blockage, for example in the absence of TDF Proteins ) have a completely feminine appearance ( phenotype ). Female development begins in the womb, and inconspicuous girls are often born. The male equivalent of the XY woman is the XX man .
Up to puberty and usually beyond, there is inconspicuous social gender development (compare gender identity ). As with the here not present aneuploidy can not here speak of a disease, but only by a hormonally induced specific phenotypic expression.
Causes can be:
- a complete androgen resistance
- a defect on the short arm of the Y chromosome located Sex determining region of Y , see testicular determining factor
- an XY gonadal dysgenesis as a pure form of gonadal dysgenesis different causes, including changes autosomal genes
XY women have a vagina that can be shortened, for example, which is why a neovagina ( colpopoiesis ) can be created.
