Xavier Carter (born December 8, 1985 in Palm Bay , Florida ) is an American athlete . He competes in the disciplines 100-meter run , 200-meter run and 400-meter run and studies at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge .

He first appeared in public in 2006 at the championships of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Carter won four championship titles, making him the first athlete since Jesse Owens to do so (who had achieved this feat in 1935 and 1936). He was also the first ever athlete to win the 100m and 400m on the same day.

On July 11, 2006, Carter needed 19.63 s for 200 meters at the athletics meeting in Lausanne . This made him the second fastest man of all time over this distance.

Carter's nickname is "X-Man", on the one hand because of his first name, on the other hand because of his special sign of victory, the crossing of his arms in an X. His manager is Mark Block, the husband of the former Ukrainian athlete Schanna Block .

In the seasons 2004 and 2005 he played football for the LSU Tigers as a wide receiver . Through his 2006 contracts and a. with the sporting goods manufacturer Nike he is banned for further seasons.
