Xavier Niel
Xavier Niel (born August 25, 1967 in Maisons-Alfort ) is a French entrepreneur.
Life
Niel was one of the pioneers of the French minitel at a young age and earned a lot of money and a. through online offers of sexual content ( Minitel rose ). In 1991 he started the company Iliad , which was listed on the stock exchange from 2004 and in which he continues to be the main shareholder. In 1995, Iliad invested in the Internet provider Worldnet and in 1999 created the French Internet provider Free , which thanks to aggressive pricing policies and innovative services quickly became the second Internet provider in France and which has also been the fourth French mobile phone provider from 2012.
In March 2010, he founded Kima Ventures to invest in Internet start-ups. In December 2010 he took over the French newspaper Le Monde with a group of other French entrepreneurs . In spring 2014 Niel took over a majority stake in Monaco Telecom and one year later, in February 2015, the mobile operator Salt Mobile in Switzerland.
According to Forbes Magazine , Niel is one of the richest French people. In 2013 he co-founded the IT School 42 .
