Xavier Valls

Xavier Valls Subirá (born September 18, 1923 in Barcelona , † September 16, 2006 ibid) was a Spanish (Catalan) painter .

Life

Xavier Valls was trained in the technique of painting and sculpture by Charles Collet , who was his only teacher. From 1939 to 1940 he worked with the Catalan painter Jaume Busquets , with whom he studied the technique of wall painting. In 1949 he moved to Paris to work. He always spent his summer vacation in his hometown. Valls was nicknamed "Peace Painter" and "Painter of Silence". He had his first exhibition in Spain in 1982, when his works were shown in a retrospective in the Salas de exposiciones de la Subdirección General de Artes Plásticas in Madrid. He has received several art awards in Spain and France .

Valls died of colon cancer at the age of 82 .

His pictures are exhibited in various museums in Spain and France, including the Museo Reina Sofía and the Galería Juan Gris in Madrid , the Museo Centro de Arte Faro de Cabo Mayor , Santander, the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Lanzarote and the Fonds National d ' Art Contemporain in Paris.

family

Valls married Luisangela Galfetti (* 1940) from Switzerland, 17 years his junior, in 1958. The couple had two children: Manuel Valls (* 1962) and Giovanna Valls (* 1963).

His son was named French Minister of the Interior on May 16, 2012 and Prime Minister on March 31, 2014 .
